About Melaney

I’m passionate about helping others achieve their fitness and lifestyle goals! Feeling great in your own skin AND mind is absolutely the key to your own happiness and wellbeing and the two go hand in hand. I strive to give classes that help you reach your peak potential. As a former ballerina of 20 years, a 17 year and counting yoga practice, a strong meditation routine, and experience with back and knee injuries, I have tons of expertise to offer!

As someone that has struggled with my weight and body image in the past, suffered from depression and anxiety issues, had several different painful injuries, and eventually fixed the problems, I love to share what I know with others to help them become the best versions of themselves the way I did.

I've thought about teaching Yoga for a long time but couldn't afford the training. I also loved taking Barre classes which helped to heal herniated discs in my back. I found a work/study opportunity to become Barre certified and jumped at it, which then became the same opportunity for my 200 hr Yoga teacher training.

Certified Barre & 200 hr certified Yoga instructor. 20 years of ballet and 17 years of my own Yoga practice. I currently teach Barre and Yoga around New York City.

About the lesson

I will do a quick consultation via phone or email to get a feel for what you need, then develop classes that meet you at your current level and progress to push you a little further each time.

Ages ranging from 20-60, different types of injuries, brand new to fitness to experienced practicioners.

Make sure they know what they're doing! They should know how to modify movements to suit different types of students and injuries. They should also have an extensive background that makes them truly a professional. You want to learn from the best!

I subbed a Yoga class for another teacher at one of my jobs and afterward the girls asked me when and where I teach because they loved my class. Teachers don't get a ton of feedback to assure them they're doing a great job, so that was really nice to hear!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
-What are my workout goals? (strength, flexibility, relaxation, mindfullness, endurance, injury rehabilitation, etc.)

-What kind of workout do I want?

-Do I need it to include cardio?

-What is my current level of fitness experience?

-Do I have any injuries they need to know about?

Details

I generally charge $100/ hr for private, personalized, 60-minute sessions. I'm open to negotiating, doing a monthly plan, etc. I can work with you on cost and offer a discounted price for remote, online classes.
