About Douglas

I always loved explaining things, and people told me I had a talent for it. When I tried university tutoring I found that I really liked it and my students gave me very good reviews. From that I developed a career as a teaching academic, known for high-quality student-centered teaching.

About the lesson

* Sessions are up to 1 hour.
* We start where you are at, and work along with your existing study materials.
* We identify your conceptual challenges and I provide theory and tailored examples for you to work through so you can build the skills you need.

These lessons are for students up to 1st-year university level in statistics/data analysis (including computer coding). Maths lessons are up to HSC level.

I taught 1st-year university statistics for many years as both tutor and lecturer. My earlier career was in actuarial consulting.

Perfect! Doug is a fantastic maths tutor! I have always found maths quite difficult and have not studied it for 10 years since leaving High School. I recently had to undertake a numeracy test for my Masters of Teaching and passed on my first attempt. Doug is encouraging, understanding, and, most of all, very patient. He is flexible and forthcoming with his time. I highly recommend Doug for any maths tutoring needs.

I reached out to him to help me with something entirely new to me and I had no background in it so it was stressful enough but he was very patient, had a great teaching style and was super easy to understand. It's rare to come across a good teacher as a lot of them make their students run from mathematics or anything close to it so I've been incredibly lucky to come across a great teacher.
