About Hannah
I am a qualified Speech and Language Therapist and experienced university lecturer with a passion for helping healthcare students develop their academic skills and clinical knowledge.
I have worked in higher education since 2021, teaching undergraduate, postgraduate and apprenticeship students in Speech and Language Therapy and other healthcare-related programmes. I have also worked clinically as a Speech and Language Therapist, specialising in dysphagia and adult acquired communication disorders. This has given me a strong understanding of how academic knowledge connects to real-world clinical practice.
My aim is to provide a supportive, encouraging environment where you can ask questions, work through challenges and develop the skills to become a more confident and independent student.
To avoid a conflict of interest, I do not tutor Speech & Language Therapy students studying at Essex University or City St George's University of London.

My tutoring is primarily aimed at university-level students. I have particular expertise in Speech and Language Therapy, but can also support students from other healthcare and allied health professions with areas such as academic writing, research methods and critical appraisal.
I take a friendly, supportive and personalised approach to academic tutoring. I start by understanding what the student is finding difficult, what they want to achieve and how they learn best. I then tailor each session accordingly, using clear explanations and opportunities to apply knowledge.
Lessons are typically 30-60 minutes and take place online.
Topics I can help with (including but not limited to):
- Preparing for assignments
- Academic writing
- How to search for, read and interpret academic literature
- Critical appraisal skills
- Developing clinical reasoning skills through case study practice
- Anatomy and neurology of speech and swallowing
- Dysphagia
- Adult acquired communication disorders, including dysarthria, aphasia, apraxia of speech and cognitive communication disorders
- Introductory phonetics for speech & language therapists
