About Ana

I am a full-time member of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra (BBC SSO) since 2019. Recently, I completed a two-year Master’s degree in Teaching Music (Mestrado em Ensino de Música) in Portugal to deepen my pedagogical understanding and inspire others by sharing my experience and enthusiasm for music.

Originally from Portugal, I moved to London for my undergraduate studies at the Royal College of Music and my master’s at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. During my nine years in London, I gathered extensive performing and teaching experience, ranging from symphonic and operatic performances to commercial recordings and innovative cross-arts events with many of the UK’s top leading orchestras and ensembles.

In 2019, I relocated to Glasgow to join the Second Violin Section of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Following the end of my teaching Master's degree (finalising my thesis!) and the discovery of a profound passion for music teaching, I am highly motivated to start a private class of dedicated violin students.

As an active performer and a member of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, I bring my real-world insight and performance expertise directly to your lessons. Crucially, my recent Master's degree in Teaching Music from Portugal ensures you receive not just inspiration, but structured, qualified instruction that helps you progress effectively.

I am deeply dedicated to my students, helping them explore their creativity and expressiveness, as well as develop your technical skills, through a methodic and pedagogic system. Learning a musical instrument like the violin is a lovely and challenging hobby. I also recommend a lesson of 30/45minutes for young beginners.
