About Ava

I have been playing the violin since third grade, and music has been an important part of my life ever since. I am currently entering my junior year of high school and have had the opportunity to perform in a variety of school, regional, state, and international-level orchestras.

During my sophomore year, I served as 3rd Chair First Violin in my high school orchestra, Principal Second Violin with the New Jersey State Youth Orchestra’s Symphonic Youth Orchestra, and 2nd Chair First Violin in the All Shore High School Orchestra. Over the years, I have also held several principal and first-chair positions in youth and school orchestras. I was also selected to participate in the Association for Music in International Schools European High School Honor Orchestra in Zurich, Switzerland.

Beyond performing, I really enjoy helping other musicians grow. I have experience working one-on-one with students, breaking down difficult musical concepts, and helping musicians improve their technique and confidence. I am a Senior Member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society and, during my junior year, will serve as Secretary and Orchestra Representative for my chapter. I previously served as President of my Junior Tri-M chapter.

I am also the founder of Arturo Healing Hearts, a student-led initiative that brings live music into hospitals and healthcare settings. Through this work, I mentor other young musicians and have seen firsthand how powerful music can be in building confidence, connection, and joy.

As a teacher, I am patient, encouraging, and approachable. Because I am still a student musician myself, I understand what it feels like to learn new techniques, prepare for auditions and concerts, and work through challenging music. My goal is to help younger violinists become stronger, more confident players while also making sure they enjoy learning and feel proud of their progress.

About the lesson

I believe learning violin should be both rewarding and enjoyable. My lessons are personalized to each student’s experience level, goals, and learning style. I focus on building strong fundamentals including posture, bow technique, intonation, rhythm, note reading, and musical expression while also helping students become more confident and comfortable with their instrument.

A typical lesson includes technique and warm-ups, work on current pieces or school orchestra music, and specific practice strategies the student can use between lessons. I am patient, encouraging, and understand that every student learns at a different pace.

As a young violinist myself, I can relate especially well to children and teens and understand the challenges students experience while learning an instrument. My lessons are best suited for beginner and intermediate violinists who want individualized support, whether they are just starting violin, participating in a school orchestra, preparing music for an audition, or simply looking to improve their playing and enjoy music more.
