About Diana
Hello! I am a singing teacher with over 4 years of experience and more than 200 students taught across a very wide range of ages, styles, and levels. Singing has been central to my life since childhood, and my passion for the voice as an instrument — its expressiveness, its intimacy, its power — is something that genuinely comes through in every lesson I deliver. I teach vocal technique comprehensively across classical, musical theatre, jazz, and popular styles. I am experienced with ABRSM and Trinity examination preparation at all grades, with drama school and conservatoire audition coaching, and with ongoing development for students who are already performing professionally. I also teach a significant number of students who have no formal goal and who are simply developing their voices for the pleasure of singing well. I am particularly known among my students for my ability to identify the specific technical issue causing a particular vocal problem — whether it is a breathiness that comes from incomplete glottal closure, a tension that comes from trying to push a note rather than support it, or a registration difficulty that comes from a narrow passaggio — and for my ability to explain that issue clearly and provide exercises and approaches that address it directly and efficiently.

Good singing teaching is as much about the singer's psychology as their physiology. The voice is profoundly sensitive to emotional state, self-consciousness, and fear, and many students who have the physical potential for beautiful singing are prevented from realizing it by performance anxiety, self-critical internal monologue, or the fear of being heard. I take these psychological dimensions seriously in my teaching, working with students to develop the confidence, presence, and freedom that allow their natural voice to emerge and flourish. Technically, I teach breath management, posture, resonance, registration, vowel production, and articulation. I address all of these through real music from the beginning, because the technical and musical dimensions of singing cannot be meaningfully separated — a breath that supports a long phrase has a different quality from a breath taken in a vocal exercise, and the only way to develop the right breath for performance is to practice it in performance contexts. I work with students at all levels in classical, musical theatre, jazz, and popular styles. I teach grade examination preparation for ABRSM and Trinity, audition preparation for music college and drama school, and performance coaching for students who want to develop their stage presence and communication skills as well as their vocal technique.
