About Trent
I had been in public education in the state of North Carolina for the better part of a decade, and love to help learning happen ! I have vast and extensive knowledge in history, geography, and literature across a number of disciplines ranging from ancient biblical history to the modern era in the United States. Although my core classes were social studies, I also pushed to make students better readers and better writers, I have held firmly to that core value since my student teaching days. It is my personal philosophy that all knowledge is connected, that in order for a student to comprehend the subject, it has to be authentic to their own experience and organically relate it to their own prior knowledge. One plant helps the other in a garden.

This varies by class, by student, or by the objectives laid out by the school district and the state. I cast the net wide in terms of topics and material covered, what is more important is how the student's learning styles are incorporated. I do prefer reading out loud of text, guided discussion, lecture, and hands on activities (especially with mathematics), the latter will not be very practical here.

If travel is required, i would need to include a mileage fee to and from the location. I would also require a cancellation fee as my time was used to prepare for a lesson.
