About Benedict

Based in London and offering lessons over webcam or in person, I specialise in openings but also work with my current students on endgame studies as well as middlegame tactics. I am an adult improver, having studied very obsessively and reached an elo of around 2100 online. I teach adult improvers up to around a 1700 level but also have experience teaching children in schools starting from the basics and fundamentals. I am passionate about the game and importantly, the improvement you'll see won't stop the game from being fun and interesting.

About the lesson

I aim to ensure that my students will make progress in understanding the game and becoming stronger players, but also that the game stays fun, no matter how high up the rating ladder you climb! What I offer for my students:

- Developing your tactical abilities by doing puzzles together and talking through my thought process.
- Learning how to formulate middlegame plans by studying and analysing games (both your own and famous games from history).
- Learning the ins and out of tactical motifs such as the Greek gift sacrifice, windmills, fishing pole traps etc.
- Developing a full opening repertoire based on your playing style and preferences
- Studying endgames and learning about different types of checkmate patterns
