About Amy

I am an LSAT instructor with more than 15 years of experience teaching and tutoring students in classroom and one-on-one settings, both in person and online.

I earned my law degree from Tulane University and practiced law for several years before transitioning into teaching. After stepping away from legal practice to become a stay-at-home mom, I discovered my passion for education and mentorship.

Since then, I have taught LSAT courses in classroom settings, including for several years on the TCU campus for an independent test-preparation company, and I have worked extensively with private students in both in-person and remote formats.

I understand how daunting the LSAT can feel. For many students, it begins as a complete mystery. I believe that this exam can be learned, understood, and mastered with the right approach.

A Personalized, Diagnostic Approach

Every student thinks differently. For that reason, no two preparation plans should be the same.

When I review a student’s work, I do not focus solely on overall scores. I examine practice tests, homework, in-session work, questions raised and discussion had during tutoring sessions, and performance patterns across multiple problem sets. Analyzing this material allows me to understand how a student is reasoning and where a breakdown has occurred.

This analysis allows me to see the nature of mistakes: inefficient reasoning strategies, gaps in structural analysis, difficulty following the logic of a passage, incomplete or inaccurate evaluation of answer choices, misinterpretation of dense language, weaknesses in reading comprehension, and pacing or timing problems, and testing anxiety challenges.

Different challenges require different solutions. For example,
For example, the approach required to address a timing issue differs from the approach required to address difficulty identifying key details in an answer choice.

I view mistakes as opportunities for improvement. Each mistake is another piece of data that helps me understand a student’s thinking process and correct the point at which the misstep occurred.

For that reason, instruction is always targeted, intentional, and continually recalibrated as students develop.

A Supportive and Engaging Learning Environment

I believe that effective test preparation does not have to be stressful or intimidating. Students lead busy lives and balance many competing demands on their time and energy. My goal is to make LSAT preparation both productive and genuinely enjoyable.

The LSAT is, in many ways, a game designed to induce pressure and self-doubt. Excessive stress is counterproductive and often interferes with performance. For that reason, I also teach students practical strategies for managing anxiety, maintaining focus, and approaching test day with confidence and composure.

Sessions are structured, focused, and efficient, while remaining engaging and encouraging. I strive to create an environment in which students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring ideas, and learning from mistakes.

I want tutoring to be a part of each student’s day that they look forward to, rather than one they dread.

Developing Logical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension

Strong LSAT performance requires both analytical precision and disciplined reading.

I work extensively with students on Logical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension skills, with particular emphasis on identifying structure, evaluating arguments, recognizing relationships within passages, and assessing the strength of answer choices.

Students learn how to break down complex material, track reasoning patterns, and engage with dense or unfamiliar language in a systematic and controlled manner.

The goal is not memorization, but mastery of process.

Passion, Perspective, and Results

Teaching is deeply rewarding to me. I love watching students have “lightbulb” moments when difficult concepts suddenly become clear.

Law school was one of the most meaningful and transformative experiences of my life. I am committed to helping students pursue that same goal with confidence and preparation.

My students have achieved substantial score increases and highly competitive results.

When I first took the LSAT, I found it frustrating and discouraging. Over time, I came to appreciate its structure and logic. My goal is for every student to develop that same understanding and confidence.

Whether a student is encountering the LSAT for the first time or has been studying for an extended period, we determine the most effective starting point and build from there.

Let’s Work Together

If you are ready for a thoughtful, individualized, and supportive approach to LSAT preparation, I would be pleased to help.

Together, we will build clarity, confidence, and strong reasoning skills
