About Finn
My lessons focus on showing the true power of data in understanding the world around us. I teach students how to read and interpret data with confidence, turning numbers into meaningful stories. Together, we master graphing techniques, from simple bar charts to more complex visualizations that reveal patterns hidden in the details. We dive into the essentials of statistical analysis, learning how to measure, compare, and test ideas using clear and logical methods. I guide learners in spotting trends and relationships that can influence decisions, whether in academic research or everyday situations. Real-world datasets and case studies are at the heart of my teaching, making each lesson practical and engaging. I provide patient and structured support for those who may feel uneasy about numbers, helping them build skills step by step. For those aiming to strengthen their professional or academic work, I offer advanced techniques to ensure accuracy and clarity in data presentation. My goal is to equip every learner with the ability to navigate complex information and find clear answers. By the end of our sessions, you will see data not as a challenge but as a valuable tool for discovery and problem-solving. You’ll gain the skills to analyze research, make informed choices, and communicate your findings effectively. Above all, you’ll develop the confidence to handle numbers in any context and transform information into powerful insights.

Mathematics Tutor | MSc Computational Mathematics | Conceptual Learning for Non-STEM Students
I am a Maths tutor with over 7 years of teaching experience and an MSc in Computational Mathematics, passionate about making advanced mathematical ideas accessible to all learners. My teaching is especially designed for non-STEM majors, where the focus is not just on computation, but on understanding, connection, and appreciation of mathematics as a way of thinking.
I believe mathematics is not merely a collection of formulas, but a landscape of ideas, patterns, and relationships that reflect the structure of the world around us. Instead of overwhelming students with dense symbolic work, I emphasize the *why* behind mathematical concepts, helping learners build intuition and confidence.
To make abstract ideas more relatable, I use everyday analogies and real-world examples—such as the curve of a coffee cup, the harmony of musical chords, or the structure of a city’s street grid. I also incorporate historical context to show how mathematical ideas evolved through human curiosity, problem-solving, and practical needs, making the subject more meaningful and approachable.
Over the years, I have worked with students from liberal arts, humanities, and non-technical backgrounds, many of whom initially struggled with or feared mathematics. Through patient guidance and concept-focused teaching, I help them overcome math anxiety and develop a new perspective—seeing mathematics as a tool for understanding the world rather than a barrier.
My sessions encourage curiosity, open discussion, and active engagement with ideas rather than rote memorization. Whether exploring the elegance of a proof or the geometry found in architecture, I aim to highlight the beauty and relevance of mathematics in diverse contexts.
My mission is to replace fear with curiosity and hesitation with confidence. By the end of my course, students not only understand mathematical concepts more clearly but also recognize the presence and importance of mathematics in everyday life, arts, sciences, and human culture.
