About Yuni

I am a certified Korean language expert with a long-standing career at prestigious university institutes in Seoul. Currently based in London, I enjoy tutoring students here in the UK and sharing my language expertise. My teaching philosophy is built on a foundation of structured, easy-to-follow lessons that transition into practical speaking practice, ensuring you can confidently use what you learn.

About the lesson

1. My Teaching Methodology and Approach
In our first trial lesson, I conduct a comprehensive level test and discuss your specific goals to tailor the curriculum. Whether you prefer a textbook-oriented structured course or dynamic free-talking sessions, I flexibly adjust the direction to suit your needs.

While I can provide explanations in both English and Korean, I firmly believe that maximising exposure to Korean during class is the most effective way to improve. Therefore, my lessons are conducted primarily in Korean. However, you don't need to worry! Based on my extensive experience at university language institutes, I provide highly systematic and effective instruction. If you trust my professional guidance, you will see remarkable progress.

2. Typical Lesson Length
For absolute beginners starting with the Korean alphabet (Hangeul), I recommend 60-minute sessions to manage the initial cognitive load. However, I strongly recommend at least 90-minute lessons for all other students. I believe 90 minutes is the essential minimum duration to fully practise new concepts within the class and ensure they are effectively transitioned into your long-term memory.

3. My Qualifications and Experience
I am a dedicated professional who majored in Korean Language Education for both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. After graduating, I spent over 12 years teaching at a prestigious University Korean Language Center in Seoul. My experience includes:

(1) Over 10,000 hours of total teaching time.

(2) Teaching diverse adult learners from all over the world, including university exchange students.

(3) 6 years of experience as an official TOPIK Writing Examiner/Scorer, providing expert feedback on academic writing.

(4) Holding the Level 1 Korean Language Teacher Certificate, the highest grade awarded by the Korean government.

4. Target Students and Levels
With over a decade of experience teaching from Total Beginner to Advanced (Level 1 to 6), I welcome students of all proficiency levels. Whether your goal is academic achievement, passing the TOPIK exam, business proficiency, or simply enjoying Korean culture, I can provide a specialised curriculum that meets your individual objectives.
