About the lesson

Writing Tutoring Lesson Description Overview I provide specialized tutoring for essay writing, dissertation or thesis development, research papers, and resumes. Designed for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students, these sessions focus on empowering students to build skills, confidence, and independence in their writing. Teaching Method My coaching approach is highly involved yet student-centered. I guide and challenge students, offering clear direction while ensuring they take full ownership of their work. This method not only produces stronger results but also teaches lifelong writing skills. Typical 1-Hour Lesson Outline 1. Introduction & Goal Setting (10 minutes) - Review the student’s objectives for the session. - Discuss the assignment, prompt, or topic at hand. - Clarify specific areas of concern (e.g., structure, research, or style). 2. Guided Development (25 minutes) - Work through brainstorming, outlining, or drafting together. - I offer prompts, ask questions, and provide real-time feedback to help clarify arguments and refine organization. - Emphasis on teaching techniques for research, citation, or effective phrasing. 3. Active Application (20 minutes) - The student actively applies what we’ve discussed by working on their draft, refining their thesis, or organizing sections while I provide support as needed. - Focus on building their independence and confidence. 4. Wrap-Up & Next Steps (5 minutes) - Review progress made during the session. - Outline actionable next steps or strategies to complete the project. - Answer final questions and set goals for future sessions. What Sets Me Apart I don’t simply edit or correct; I teach students how to think critically, structure their work effectively, and develop their unique voice. My hands-on yet student-driven approach ensures that every session fosters learning and growth, equipping students with skills they can apply beyond a single assignment. Who These Lessons Are For - High School Students: Learn foundational essay writing, research techniques, and resume crafting for college applications. - Undergraduate Students: Develop academic writing skills for essays, term papers, and research projects while enhancing professional resumes. - Graduate Students: Master advanced writing skills for theses, dissertations, and professional development documents like CVs and resumes. Let’s work together to turn your writing challenges into successes!
