About Maya

I am a Maths tutor with over 5 years of experience and hold an MSc in Applied Mathematics. My teaching is shaped by a passion for exploring the deeper connections between mathematics and the natural world. I integrate concepts from chaos theory and fractal geometry into practice, helping students see how mathematics explains the complexity of systems around us. I guide learners through topics like iterated functions, self-similarity, and strange attractors using visual examples and interactive simulations. These tools make abstract ideas more concrete and exciting to understand. Many students find this approach eye-opening, as it reveals how mathematics is not just theoretical but also deeply connected to patterns in nature and real-world phenomena. My methodology emphasises both clarity and creativity, ensuring students build a strong foundation while also developing curiosity. I enjoy working with curious learners and those interested in interdisciplinary science, where mathematics meets physics, biology, or computer science. Each session is designed to encourage questioning, exploration, and independent thinking. Over the years, I have supported students in exams, projects, and research, always aiming to make complex ideas accessible. I believe mathematics is not only about solving problems but also about appreciating its beauty and depth. Join me, and together we will build the skills to become a well-rounded and confident mathematician, with a new appreciation for complexity and the elegance of mathematical thought.

My teaching approach in Mathematics is gentle, reflective, and centred on deep conceptual understanding. I believe higher mathematics becomes easier when students learn to see the ideas behind the symbols. To support this, I focus on building clarity step by step, ensuring that each learner feels confident before moving forward. I specialise in guiding students through advanced areas such as abstract algebra, number theory, mathematical proofs, and other theoretical concepts. These topics often appear challenging, but with the right perspective, they can become fascinating journeys of logic and creativity. I use clear explanations, real examples, and visual reasoning to make abstract concepts more approachable. I encourage learners to think independently, explore patterns, and develop their own style of problem-solving. Instead of memorisation, I emphasise reasoning and discovery, which creates long-term understanding. My sessions are interactive, allowing students to ask questions freely and connect their ideas to larger mathematical frameworks. For those working on research, advanced assignments, or personal projects, I provide dedicated support and feedback. Each student is guided with patience and care, helping them find their unique way of approaching complex theorems. My goal is not only to help learners succeed in exams but also to change how they think about mathematics. With the right guidance, anyone can uncover the beauty of higher-level math and discover new ways of reasoning.
