About Matthew

I have recently graduated from the University of Cambridge with First Class Honours (with Distinction) in Engineering. I have extensive experience of tutoring in Mathematics, Physics and Engineering, with pupils ranging in age from 11-21.

I am passionate about learning, and believe that my enthusiasm and engagement with my tutees creates an environment in which they can grow in confidence and discover their academic potential. I have found, through experience, that tutoring is most effective when sessions are tailored to the individual. I therefore take the time to prepare and review each session extensively, maintaining a detailed account of each tutee’s progress as well as both their short term, and long term goals. My aim is not only to bolster academic knowledge, but also to pass on a passion for learning such that my tutee’s willingness to learn does not diminish once the session is over.

I have thrived in the English Education System, from primary school through to my undergraduate degree. Passing on my understanding of the school curriculum, as well as examination techniques that I have acquired, is something that I find extremely rewarding and have had significant success with.

Holgate Pollard Memorial Prize
- Awarded to students achieving outstanding results in Tripos examinations. Received in 2nd year of undergraduate studies.

Department of Engineering Project Prize
- Received in 3rd year for the highest ranked project involving the design and implementation of my own image compression scheme.

Department of Engineering Departmental Prize
- Received in 3rd year for highest performing Information and Computer Engineering student.
