About Justin
Howdy from J! One of my greatest joys in life is helping young pilots reach their goals. I’ve been an FAA Certified Flight Instructor for 25 years and over the last 30 years I’ve flown countless makes and models of drones. Since 2001 I have helped hundreds of pilots pass their FAA written exam including the Part 107 Remote Pilot exam. My first Part 107 student was my wife back in 2017, she did not have a background in aviation (she is a R.N.) and she easily passed on her first attempt. I’ve also started and managed three successful drone businesses and I even flew drones for the FAA so I have a pretty good idea about what it takes to both pass the exam and what matters the most when a drone pilot is operating out in the field after they pass the test.
Since 2001 I have acquired thousands of hours teaching people to fly helicopters, drones and I also currently fly for and instruct for an airline.
Oh, and I also love to teach and to make it fun for the student!

I teach in a way that helps the student understand the “why ” instead of just rote memorization…without being unnecessarily complex and while keeping it fun ! To facilitate this I reference numerous instructional images, the ability to annotate on screen and by the use of moving 3D airspace models. If a student is going to have difficulty with any subject it’s likely gonna be airspace. My 3D airspace models complimented by my relaxed and fun teaching style has produced an incredibly high pass rate (100% as of May 26’).
Of course I cannot guarantee a first-time pass but what I can guarantee is that my 25 years of aviation instruction experience has provided me with the ability to know when a student is ready to sign-up for their FAA written exam.
