About Megan
I run a small farm and have taught alongside that work for twelve years now, guiding approximately two hundred sixty students using a genuinely plain, practical approach to English. I never trained formally in any fancy academic sense, and I say that honestly, because my real strength is keeping things simple and genuinely useful rather than unnecessarily complicated. Most of my students are adults who want straightforward, practical English for daily life, work, or community involvement, not academic polish for its own sake. My teaching style is plain, honest, and refreshingly down to earth, built on decades of valuing clear, genuine communication over impressive-sounding complexity. I connect particularly well with students who felt overwhelmed or intimidated by more academic, formal teaching approaches they may have tried previously elsewhere. Many students tell me they finally feel comfortable, since I never make anyone feel small for asking a simple question or making an honest mistake. I take real pride in helping ordinary people communicate confidently in ordinary, everyday situations, which matters far more to me than academic prestige. My approach treats language as a genuinely practical tool for real life, not an abstract subject to be mastered for its own sake. I run a small farm alongside teaching, and honestly that shapes a pretty no-nonsense, practical approach where we focus on getting language actually useful rather than fussing over fancy vocabulary. Lessons stay grounded in real, everyday situations, work, family, weather, community, the plain, genuine stuff that fills most people's actual daily conversation. I keep grammar explanations simple and direct, no unnecessary complexity, because I've found plain, clear teaching sticks far better than overly academic explanations most students never actually needed. Vocabulary focuses on genuinely useful, everyday words rather than obscure or overly formal terms a student will likely never actually use in real conversation. We talk a lot, plainly and honestly, about real life, since I've found genuine conversation about ordinary things builds confidence faster than rehearsed, artificial classroom dialogue ever manages. I keep corrections gentle but honest, pointing out clearly what needs fixing without dressing it up unnecessarily or making a bigger deal of it than needed. Repetition happens naturally through real, ongoing conversation rather than forced, artificial drilling, since steady, plain practice over time genuinely builds lasting confidence. There's no pressure here to sound fancy or impressive, just genuine, clear communication that actually works in real daily life. Every lesson stays honest, plain, and genuinely useful, nothing more complicated than that.
