About Ezinma

- What kind of experience do you have?
Hi, I’m a senior lecturer in fashion design with over 20 years’ experience teaching at top universities in London. I also write fashion design textbooks, including Fashion Design Research, published by Laurence King – so chances are you’ve seen my work if you’ve studied fashion!

I offer friendly, down-to-earth one-to-one tutoring online (and in person) for anyone looking to build their design skills – whether you’re a student preparing a portfolio, working on a final year project, applying to uni, or just want to take your ideas further.

What I can help with:

Coming up with strong, original ideas
Developing concepts and concept boards
Designing collections and putting them together visually
Improving your fashion illustration and presentation
Building a standout portfolio for uni or job applications
Getting clear, honest feedback on your work

I’ll guide you through the whole process – from that first spark of inspiration to a fully illustrated collection. Sessions are tailored to your needs, and I’m always happy to offer advice on studying fashion, creative direction, and navigating the industry.

Perfect for:

Aspiring fashion students
Current undergrads or postgrads
Career changers and creatives looking to explore fashion design

Let’s bring your ideas to life and get your work to the next level.

  • 1) When did you start practicing? How did this passion find you?

My mother was a lover of fashion and I have inherited this curiosity to explore form, silhouette, colour, fabrics and details. From an early age I have been fascinated by the Arts - design, art, music theatre and film. I just love being creative.
  • 2) Which artists or works affect you the most?

Recently I have been blown away by the exhibitions of the following artists: Nick Cave, Hew Locke and Tavares Strachan. However, my appreciation for artist's work is very diverse, for example, I love the work of Louise Bourgeois, Richard Serra, Anthony Gormley, Rothko, the Surrealist & Dada artists, Picasso, Matisse and so many more.
  • 3) What are the qualities and skill required to succeed in this area?

    Self-belief, hard-work, open-mindedness, resilience, self-promotion and networking.
  • 4) What is the most valuable advice you can give to help someone stay focused on creative projects?

It really is not a sprint but a marathon - the journey is often more important than the destination. Also, please embrace the happy accidents (moments of epiphany!) along the way!
  • 5) How would you describe your passion; how does it make you feel?

Alive and connected - I am so happy that I have a creative outlook.
  • 6) What creative achievements are you particularly proud of?

My 5-star rated published books and the Cutting Edge Lecture Series, that I have created in collaboration with the RSA, on their online platform, Circle. I lead the Circular Fashion - Design, Manufacture & Commerce group.
  • 7) Have you ever been surprised by a student; by their ability or quick progression?

Sounds cheesy, but will share - I have been close to tears (happy tears!) on many occasions. This is where the MAGIC is!
  • 8) Being a Superprof is an art! What is your secret?

LOVE what you do and the rest looks after itself
