About Derek

I began my writing many years ago, but have been professionally publishing since 2016. Currently, I have twenty horror and epic fantasy novels on Amazon, Kindle, and Audible! I have a writer’s website: authorderekbarton.blog. I’ve been published in magazines and even published my own magazine. I live in Peoria, Arizona.

About the lesson

Each of my lessons is personalized, results-oriented, and motivational. I will meet with you individually where we will assess your progress, discuss steps to improve, and I can provide keys to unlock your true writing potential!. My lessons are casual to create a positive, nonjudgmental environment, but at the same time, they will give you options for success.

In our first lesson, I provide a detailed assessment to create a solid study plan. Then we can meet with other new writers so that you can learn from others. Writing journeys do not have to be a solo path.

My lessons cater to adults and teenagers aiming to grow as creative writers.

My personal mantra is YOUR SUCCESS AS A WRITER IS MY SUCCESS WE WIN TOGETHER!

I will gladly assist with any writing projects, review weekly submissions of up to 2,000 words, provide writing lessons or writing prompts, and help the student develop writing habits and rituals that will keep them successful and driven for years to come.

FIRST OF THREE SESSIONS IS FREE!! Sessions are one hour/$20 paid in advance on Paypal or Venmo. Online (Google Meets) or in person if local.
