About Chinedu Benjamin
A medical doctor and a chess teacher. I have been playing chess for over twenty years and have developed a deep passion for the game. Throughout my journey, I have had the privilege of participating in numerous tournaments, both at the national and the international level. These experiences have not only sharpened my skills but have also given me valuable insights into the intricacies of the game. Achievements: - Won the Dennis Memorial Grammar School Yearly Chess Championship, Nigeria 1995 – 2000 - Won the Nigerian National Sports Festival Bronze Medal, 2012 - Achieved the FIDE title of Arena Grandmaster in 2016 - Consistently ranked among the top players in the Caribbean - Won the St Vincent National Chess Championship in 2021 - Obtained a FIDE Master Title award at the Chennai Olympiad, 2022 - National Team Captain for SVGCF 2022 - Present - National Coach for SVGCF 2021 - Present I'm a gentle and peace-loving man you'll be so pleased to meet. Down-to-earth kinda guy. Nice to a fault most of the time. I love risky chess, adventurous moves. Mikhail Tal is my favorite G!!! Feel free to learn the game with me anytime.

I have successfully mentored aspiring chess players of various skill levels, ranging from beginners to advanced players. My coaching philosophy revolves around fostering a strong foundation in the fundamentals of chess while simultaneously encouraging critical thinking and strategic decision-making. I believe in tailoring my approach to meet the unique needs and goals of each individual client, ensuring that they receive personalized attention and guidance. I understand that chess is not solely about acquiring technical skills but also about cultivating important life skills such as discipline, focus, patience, and resilience. As your coach, I will strive to instill these qualities in you, not only helping you become a stronger chess player but also empowering you to apply these attributes to other areas of your life. Before starting a One on One training, I will test your chess knowledge first, then create a training program specific for you. Every training session is accompanied with assignments to be presented in the following meeting, that way, I will ensure that you are getting better at chess.
