About Curtis Jordan
As a Film enthusiast who has been working in the Film and TV industry for 10 + years. I have working with leading professionals in the industry and developed a great understanding of what it means to create in visual and written mediums.
Throughout my lessons I will help you gain more insight into the meaning and purpose behind a story, while also encouraging you develop your own opinions about stories and how effective they can be. A Film can inspire, teach, comfort and challenge an audience. It is the critics responsibility to analyses the themes and narratives of the story and truthfully review the work.
There are a different number of approaches that can be taken when reviewing a film. In my lessons we will explore these varied approaches. Taking time to delve into each will be a valuable aspect of the lesson, we will look at auteur theory, sociopolitical analysis, genre analysis and the formalist approach.

Through open discussions and analysis we will explore the meaning of stories and how to break down the structure of a review. A film critic must find the purpose of using their opinion to honestly evaluate a film on it's merits, failings and the complexities of the art.
My background in the Film industry has given me great insight into the work behind the scenes of a films production. Having worked on set in the camera department for a number of Bafta nominated TV dramas including Channel 4's "It's a Sin" and ITV's "The Tower" I have developed a greater understanding behind the motives and challenges faced in the production of a Film. This understanding has given me a wealth of respect for the art form and believe that it only helps understand a film as a piece of expression and depth. As well as working in the Film industry I have previously worked at educational centres for young adults with learning difficulties, running drama and film workshops has given me a vast wealth of experience. I have also privately tutored in the world of music, providing lessons in drumming for 15 years.
