About Mark
I attended both the Academy of Art University and the Meisner Technique Studio simultaneously. I earned my BFA in Acting and completed both programs while beginning my professional career in San Francisco. In the first couple of years following graduation, I starred in half a dozen plays all over the Bay Area including: 'Proof', 'Seminar', 'I Hate Hamlet', 'The Heiress', 'Entertaining Mr. Sloane' and more. I also began my professional film career with short films like 'Country Fixin's' (starring Ellen Geer). Eventually, I made my feature film debut as Reubens in Roger Corman's 'Art School of Horrors'. Then in 2014, I played Philip Hutchins in the indie feature film 'Roxie' and followed the momentum down to Hollywood where I began my work in television. I started on TV as many actors do; by doing small co-star and guest star roles to earn my SAG card and establish credits in the industry. I eventually appeared in several great roles including Detective Young in 'Unusual Suspects' and Tech in 'Drone Wars' before moving on to much bigger roles like Kyle in Lifetime's 'Dangerous Medicine'. I recently attended Juilliard's Drama Extension and played a supporting role in Randy Moore's newest feature film, Tim & Milly. I continue to audition and work while teaching a growing list of students Acting and the business of the industry.

Let's build YOUR CRAFT together!
I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to acting; each artist is a world of their own, and needs to be taught acting through their own passion for it and based off of who they are as a talent, and as a human being.
My approach focuses on you, and what it is that makes you an actor in the first place. From there, we can begin to work, and I will guide you along your path towards a mastery of acting that will always bring you a sense of self expression, fulfillment and fun.

Of all the artists and guiding lights I know and trust, Mark is the cream of the crop. Not only was he born to be a serious actor, but I also believe that one of his greatest forms of purpose is to give people the tools to better understand themselves, especially how to deeply tap into their most resonant artistic expressions. Mark has translated his many years of training and performance experience into the teaching others with directness, tenacity, and a thirst to powerfully push people beyond their limits if open and willing to letting Mark in. His passion and willpower is nothing short of exciting, comforting, and wholly inspiring; he takes his time getting to know each of his clients on personal and professional levels; and he settles for nothing less than a standard of excellence in himself and those who come to learn from him. In Mark, you not only get a wise, talented, and compassionate instructor whose energies know no bounds, but you also get an individual who has learned amazing lessons in life that have only strengthened, elevated, and humbled his already amazing spirit with each new day. He shows up for himself and his loved ones, and he will show up for you. So, with my highest seal of recommendation, strongly consider Mark Haptonstall as your new acting instructor, because I can guarantee you, you will only become more amazing each and every session and day. :)
I have a 12 year-old daughter and 15 year-old son who have both taken acting lessons from Mark for over a year. My daughter is shy and struggles with confidence when it comes to performing. Mark has such a kind way of interacting with her that she opened up to him immediately. The very first lesson she came out smiling and couldn’t stop talking about how much fun she had. After each lesson now, she comes out twirling and happy and so excited about class. My older son loved his time with Mark as well and raved about how fun he is and how he looked forward to each week to do another class. Mark puts so much thought into the material and what they will be learning each week. He is invested in my children beyond just the acting classes and is one of the most thoughtful, creative, engaging and overall wonderful humans in our lives. I have never been able to more enthusiastically recommended anyone more than I could recommend Mark Haptonstall.
