About Ruby
Hello! I'm a filmmaker and educator who recently graduated from the MA Filmmaking course at the London Film School. Before going to grad school, however, I worked as a film educator with the Barnard College Media Center back in New York where I co-founded a filmmaking mentorship programme.
As a filmmaker myself, I've written and directed a number of short films over the years. My love of cinema has taken me from documenting Brooklyn's DIY music scene to attending the world-renowned film school FAMU in the Czech Republic. One time my work was shown on a tiny Greek island. I've worked in development for independent production companies and as a pre-selector for prestigious international film festivals, writing feedback on countless screenplays and features, but at the heart of it all is to dig into new stories and characters.
I have a deep passion for uplifting new filmmakers and making this art form feel accessible to everyone, which is why I'm excited to get back into tutoring!

My lessons are about an hour in length and are for people of all levels of experience. I've worked a lot with teens and young adults just starting out (with Barnard's Pre-College Program, the London Film School's Beginner's Summer Course, and WAC Arts).
Ultimately, my goal is not to teach you how to write the perfect screenplay, it's to help you discover and cultivate your own unique voice as a writer!
