About Karl Magnus
Hi! I'm Magnus and I'm a final year student of Biomedical Sciences (Pharmacology) at the University of Aberdeen. I'm originally from Estonia but I grew up in Georgia and now live in Scotland (I speak English and Estonian). I have studied in the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme, and finished the European Baccalaureate (EB) high school diploma programme (similar to IB) where I focused on biology, chemistry and history.
I completed industrial placement at the University of Oslo researching the effect of THC on adolescent mouse brain development.
I have industry experience from internships at Põhjala Brewery (beer and drinks) and Chemi-Pharm (antiseptics, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals), both located in Estonia. At Põhjala, I worked at the quality control lab on chemical and microbiological control of beer and the work environment, and taking care of our yeast's health. At Chemi-Pharm I worked in the chemistry lab, being responsible for the development and production of anti Covid-19 nasal sprays and quality control (chemical and biological) of various products.
In my free time I like to play the drums, cook and play videogames. It's cool to be a nerd!

I'm very warm and welcoming, and we will use the best methods that suit you. We will focus on the areas where you feel less confident or need help in understanding a topic, and can also cover study techniques. We will make a set of goals that we will aim to reach. I can prepare example questions and exercises to practice.
I like to use a lot of graphics, diagrams and pictures in teaching (and my own studies) because then you have a visual representation of what can usually be very boring text in a book.
Lessons will be 45 minutes long, as otherwise our brains start to lose focus. There is not point to getting fatigued by studying, it will only make things harder. The level I can teach at is GCSE / National 5, Scottish higher, EB and IB.
