About Natasha

I am a final year student studying International Relations and Italian at the University of Leeds. Russian is my native language, however, after studying English in Russia and then attending sixth form in England, I now speak English fluently and understand Italian at a beginners level.
I enjoy meeting new people, understanding their background and where they're from as well as exploring new places and cultures. At the age of 16, I moved from Russia to boarding school in England to further my education while returning to Russia in the school holidays to do my Russian exams as well and complete my education there.
I am a highly motivated individual with a strong desire to help students achieve their goals while also reaching mine

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is very direct, I believe the fastest way to learn a language is by immersion. Whilst doing written exercises is essential for a basic understanding of any language and their grammatical concepts, there comes a point where repeating them over and over again doesn't help. You will only be able to use specific phrases that you have memorised from your exercises, to be able to actually use the language freely without memorisation requires a much deeper understanding. To acquire such an understanding I believe comes about by immersing yourself in dialogue, talking about different subjects in an open manner with only the language you are trying to learn being spoken. That is what I believe and that is how I teach, my sessions are usually split up by supporting any current academic study material and helping with any questions my students may have about exercises they have done in class or at home or questions they may have in general about the language. Then the second half is usually just speaking one on one with my students in the language they are studying about any topics either that they have learnt or new topics where I will introduce new vocabulary or grammatical concepts to them
