About Samuel
I am a Mechanical Engineering Masters Student in my fourth year at the University of Bath, on track for a first class honours in my degree after completing a year working as a mechanical engineer in Warwick. I use my physics and maths knowledge daily in my degree, and have achieved A*'s and 9's in every one of my A-Level and GCSE Maths, Further Maths and Physics exams. My experience tutoring includes successfully assisting students with job applications, and bringing one student from a C to A* in A-Level Maths from within a year!
I additionally have experience tutoring STEM subjects to struggling students and high achievers alike from years 7-11 while studying for my A-Levels. Weekly, I worked with full classes of students, improving their understandings of concepts in maths and physics classrooms, ensuring solid understandings of concepts and maintaining friendly relationships throughout. I know first-hand how frustrating and difficult it can be not understanding topics or questions, especially in mathematical subjects; and I also know how critical these subjects will be for students' future goals. Because of these reasons I feel it to be very important that I do everything in my power to improve students' ability in these subjects, and to give students the best possible chances to get the grades they need in order to have the freedom to choose their future careers.

As a former participant in the new-style GCSE exams myself, and a previous STEM tutor to students of all ages and abilities, I know how daunting and confusing exams may seem. However, I also believe I know some of the best methods for grasping a strong understanding of the core concepts of STEM subjects, in order to not only pass, but achieve the best grades possible. Having taught classes full of students with varying ability and motivation in the past, I know as much as anyone that a friendly, honest and trustworthy environment is paramount in creating a channel for communication and learning to transpire. In a free first lesson, I like for students to attempt a past exam paper, identifying weaker topics, with help available at all times from myself if needed. Subsequently, I plan personalised lessons corresponding to students' specific weaknesses, goals and needs. My lessons will primarily involve accompanying students through worked examples, step-by-step, gradually providing less guidance until the student is fully confident on their own, providing them with priceless confidence that they will need come exam day.

Perfect! Sam has been an excellent tutor, and I cannot recommend him highly enough.
I came to Sam for maths tuition to help me prepare for a maths test as part of a job assessment. I had previously failed this test, and was invited back for a final attempt.
Sam was able to tailor our lessons to cover the topics I was being assessed on, and in only a month of regular lessons, he'd gotten me to the standard, and I went on to pass the assessment.
Sam's method of teaching is very flexible, and geared towards your aims and interested as a student; for instance, Sam is happy to work with whatever methods seem most intuitive for you as a student. Sam can also help you find completely new methods of working, and can explain new concepts in a clear and understandable way.
Sam is a patient and supportive tutor; his enthusiasm and genuine desire for you to succeed in your endeavours are surely some of the best characteristics you could find in any teacher. Whatever you are working towards, I’m sure Sam can help you meet your target.View more reviews

Sam is my university friend and housemate and has helped me with several university courseworks and in preperation for our exams. He describes topics very well and is good at finding a different way to explain problems if the first method hasn't been sucessful. He is friendly and approachable making it easy to ask him questions, I would highly reccomend him as a tutor.
Sam helped me out so much with my maths and physics for my BMAT and UCAT (medical school entry exams). He helped me understand how to answer these questions and also helped me with my exam technique. He helped me go through hundreds of practice questions before I took the exam. Thanks to him, I now have my place at medical school.
He was also incredibly supportive and approachable as a tutor and I would 100% recommend him to anyone :)He's reliable, available often and is good at answering questions. He's helped other people in the past with maths and has helped me previously understand things like the quadratic formula and triangle formulas for my GCSEs at the time. He's a confident and strong speaker who can explain complex ideas as simply or as detailed as necessary.
Excellent tutor, would highly recommend. Helped my brother with his GCSE maths and physics which allowed him to achieve the grades he desired.
