About Gaurav

I am a final year medical student who has recently passed finals. I have a passion for learning and teaching others, and I also understand the difficulties that many students face having faced them myself. Having had a rocky start to secondary school myself, I was able to understand how to study effectively and want to share this with the people I mentor and teach. The techniques, tips and tricks I learnt going through my journey allowed me gain 12A* at GCSE and 5A* at A-Level and continue to help me be in the top decile in medical school. I am dedicated to helping young people achieve their full potential. Teaching is an integral part of being a doctor and something that I have always been interested in so I would love the opportunity to impart my knowledge. I would like to transfer my knowledge and help students succeed in their exams with bespoke one to one tuition in medicine and mathematics.
I have had over 7 years of experience teaching students nationally and internationally, helping students with a variety of different needs and challenges. At university I have helped hundreds of medical and dental applicants gain entrance into medical and dental school through our university outreach society. I understand how the system works and how best to get candidates into medical and dental school. Having gone through the application system myself, I understand where many students stumble and how to ensure that this is minimised. I have help create many local and national events teaching students how to best achieve their goals.
I am a Medical Education Support Society lecturer for my peers and have also been privileged to teach clinical communication and conversational English over the past few years and have further developed my own teaching ability.

About the lesson

I am dedicated and friendly person who will put their best into helping you achieve your goals. I have an interest in helping students into medical and dental school. I like to build my teaching around the learning needs of the student. I am therefore very flexible and would help you try different methods of learning to find the right technique for you. I am a great believer in spaced repetition, so there would be quizzes each session and I would leave you with practice work between sessions. I like to have regular check-ins to re-focus the sessions to what you feel you personally struggle with - I would like to do this by having a topic diary and rating how good you feel about the topics before and after sessions, and then after certain periods of time or a recap. This would also highlight problem areas to focus on. I would also help with exam strategy and tips, which being young and freshly out of school I remember well and am familiar with.
