About David
I have been teaching classes for two out of three years. In the common application of philosophy, being a teacher is the first option, so it is always more attractive to teach, because when teaching you learn more. I think that transmitting my knowledge helps me to consolidate it, which is a gain, because I learn by teaching what I have learned over the years. However, I don't like to teach masterfully. I believe that by transferring knowledge, as if it were a good that I consign to the students, it does not allow neither them nor I to learn. Therefore, the most important thing for me is dialogue. By having classes where the students and I talk, I think it allows both the students and I to get better involved with the subject. So the first guarantee I give my students is that the classes are going to be anything but boring. In the same way, it seems to me central in the transmission of philosophy to use didactic tools, such as films or series, to help students to assimilate better the topics.

The class is developed in two ways: first a part of the session is dedicated to the presentation of the topic, then the same topic of the session is discussed. Thus, it is not only guaranteed that the subject is clear (by dedicating a space to solve doubts) and the class is more enjoyable, there is also a space to question the content and proposals to have a better critical spirit. In addition, I try to always read from the first source (that is, the author's work) and not comments or manuals, to become more familiar with the authors' work. I prefer to have two-hour sessions, with a ten-minute break for drinks or going to the bathroom that is optional.

View more recommendations
