About Ethan
I am a finance professional and Waterloo School of Accounting and Finance graduate with experience across infrastructure, investment management, corporate finance, valuation, and financial modeling. I have worked on real-world investment and financial analysis projects and have experience applying all the concepts I teach in real-world scenarios (DCFs, LBO models, and other financial modeling techniques).
I have also worked as a university teaching assistant, which has given me experience helping students understand challenging finance and accounting concepts in a clear and practical way.
I enjoy making technical material easier to understand and connecting what students learn in class to how finance is actually used in investment and corporate settings. Whether you are preparing for an exam, building your first financial model, or preparing for a finance internship interview, I aim to make each lesson practical, structured, and directly relevant to your goals.

I help university students build a practical understanding of finance, accounting, Excel, and financial modeling.
I am a Waterloo finance student and finance professional with experience across sell-side infrastructure services, buy-side investment management, corporate finance, valuation, and financial modeling. I have also served as a teaching assistant for university-level finance courses.
My approach is highly practical and personalized. Before each lesson, I provide relevant slides or preparation materials so you can review the key concepts in advance and arrive ready to work through the material. During the session, we focus on the areas where you need the most help, using practical examples and hands-on exercises rather than simply reviewing theory.
A typical lesson includes:
• Identifying the concepts, assignments, interviews, or modeling skills you want to improve
• Sending relevant slides or preparation materials beforehand
• Breaking down the underlying financial theory and logic
• Working through Excel and financial modeling examples together
• Practicing DCF, LBO, valuation, or corporate finance problems
