About Anna
I’m a First-Class English Literature and Film Studies graduate from the University of Manchester, a Russell Group university. As part of my degree, I studied Screenwriting and achieved a First in the unit.
My wider academic background in Literature and Film has given me a strong interest in storytelling, character, narrative and the ways films communicate ideas and experiences. I’m also a big film and TV fan and love discovering new stories and characters and discussing what makes them work.
Alongside my studies, I have worked as a freelance writer for local newspapers and later in professional blog and content writing. This has given me experience adapting my writing for different audiences and purposes, while my academic work has developed my ability to analyse and discuss storytelling in depth. Following this, I did care and support work, where I planned and coordinated creative activities and provided support for people with a range of cognitive and physical needs. I have also had experience supporting people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
I’m passionate about helping people develop their ideas and find their own voice as writers. I’m also happy to work with students from a range of backgrounds, learning styles and levels of experience, adapting my approach to provide the support that works best for each individual.

I am available every Sunday throughout the day for lessons. My lessons are collaborative, conversational and tailored to the story you want to tell. We can work through an idea from its early stages or focus on an existing script, discussing character, dialogue, structure, pacing and the choices you’re making as a writer.
I want to help you develop your own voice rather than impose my ideas on your work. We can explore different approaches, question what is and isn’t working, and think about how you can make your story clearer, more engaging and more purposeful.
Whatever has brought you to screenwriting, we can shape our lessons around what you’re hoping to achieve, from developing a university project or your own screenplay to exploring your creativity and finding your voice.
