About Victoria
I have always had a fondness of geography, in particular the interaction between the human and physical sciences, studying geography at both A Level, Degree Level and across my Masters has required me to experiment with various methods and determine which are the most effective. Having tutored ages ranging from Primary level to A Level, I am passionate about assisting younger students working towards and attaining a goal/grade, while offering an stress-free and enjoyable learning environment.
In February of this year I began tutoring a group of 4 A Level Geography students online as part of my degree, this lasted until March and I supported them with subjects varying from coasts to carbon.
For each lesson I produced a powerpoint and a bank of resources for the students to return to for their revision. I gained praise from my senior tutors and students for my creativity of delivery and my ability to drive the specification material. I was graded 90% (1st Class) overall for this course.
My strengths lie in longer essay writing and I am eager to help students who struggle with longer exam questions/degree essays. I am also DBS checked (c. Feb 2021).
I have a BA (Hons) Degree in Geography and a MSc. in Sustainability and Business.

Generally during my first lesson with a new student, I assess their knowledge and learning style and then work with them to developing a personalised learning plan. This would identify strengths and weaknesses whilst highlighting any upcoming tests/parts of the curriculum which need extra attention.
I like the lesson to feel as encouraging as possible, so if students aren't as confident with certain topics, some tasks can be completed with me and some are more individual.
Before each session I will send any required material in a learning pack (links or resources which we will be using during the live class). This will also include a section for any additional learning, activities or videos to be completed either as supplementary work or as homework to be given for the following session. This will reinforce the content of the session whilst highlighting any areas for improvement.
Lessons will usually be divided into 4 sections:
1. Interactive starter activity - this allows me to assess what stage you are at in your learning
2.Content driven learning from specification including a interactive blend of teaching methods including past paper reviews, quizzes and more topical discussions to get the students thinking about everyday geographies. Generally, I like to incorporate a lot of participation into my lesson and lots of visual stimulation ie: virtual diagram drawing and explanation.
3. Case study focus - this will depend on the specific modules, but involves a deep dive into an area/subject specific case studies which prepares students for exams and longer 20 mark questions.
4. Recap and Q&A - this is to determine the student's understanding of the topic after the session and identify any areas to recap.
To be discussed with parents/students: after a set amount of lessons with the student I will provide a learning report with areas of strength and areas to improve on through a traffic light system, this way students can keep on top of any areas which require extra work.
I am also open to any feedback or any specific lesson tailoring that the student or parent feels would benefit their learning as overall, tutoring should be tailored to the individual!

Victoria is a brilliant and approachable teacher. When I have seen her in working environments, I found her to be really encouraging and supportive, she asks students which areas they’re struggling most on and tailors teaching to this, producing fun lesson plans. She really boosts the confidence of her students and I would happily recommend her to any students who need extra tutoring in geography.
