About Tom

Hi, I'm Tom!

I have been learning French since the age of 11 and it has been one of my greatest passions in life so far. I have been lucky enough to pursue this language all the way from secondary school, to university, to using it in previous jobs. Having a language under your belt opens so many doors for you, whether you choose to use it professionally or just to travel, the opportunities are endless!

I get a kick out of helping people learn the language, whether they're just starting out or trying to perfect their accent. It's so rewarding to see the progress my students make over time, and I'm constantly learning new teaching strategies and techniques to help them succeed.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is grounded in the belief that everyone has the capability to improve their understanding of a foreign language, even if the current school curriculum does not value languages as much as they should.

It is my role as a tutor to create a learning environment that enables each student to reach their full potential when it comes to learning French.

I like to use a hands-on approach with tutoring, offering stimulating activities and video-based resources to improve competency in listening, reading and writing. I am more than happy to differentiate instructions to meet the individual needs of my students, depending on their fluency in French.

Typical lessons are 1 hour in length, but can be extended upon request, and primarily aimed at students aged 11-18. Happy to cater to an older audience too!
