About Robert
I want more people to have that moment.
The one where learning stops feeling like something you have to sit through, and starts feeling like something that actually matters.
Growing up, I assumed difficulty and boredom were just part of the deal - that was what studying was. Discovering it didn't have to be that way was, for me, life-changing. It's also the reason I teach.
The subjects I cover - maths, statistics, computing - have a terrible reputation for being cold and abstract, but underneath that they connect to almost everything. I've lost count of how many times I've applied these concepts in ways my younger self would never have expected. That's what I want my students to see. Not just the syllabus, but why any of it matters.

My approach to teaching was forged during lockdown. Navigating complex subjects in isolation — without classrooms, without teachers on hand — forced me to figure out fast how to actually understand material rather than just absorb it. The methods I developed during that time, for myself and for my peers, are the same ones I bring to every session today.
They're also what helped me graduate with First Class Honours in Artificial Intelligence from the University of Manchester.
The question "but why does this work?" is never out of scope in my lessons. It's the starting point. Rote memorisation gets you through the easy questions; understanding the mechanics behind the maths or the code is what separates students who scrape a pass from those who genuinely master a subject. My goal is simple: you will never leave one of my lessons thinking "this is pointless."
I've spent over a year tutoring Maths, Further Maths, Computing, and Statistics at GCSE and A-Level — and by the end of our time together, you should be able to look at a problem you've never seen before and know exactly where to begin.
