About Lezlie
Hi, I’m Dr. Lezlie, a law professor and legal educator with advanced degrees in law and education and extensive experience teaching and tutoring college-level and law-related courses. I help students understand the law clearly, confidently, and without intimidation. I know how law professors teach, test, and grade, and I focus on helping students develop the analytical skills they need to succeed—not just memorize rules.
My teaching style is patient, professional, and practical. I explain complex legal concepts in plain language, use real cases and hypotheticals, and guide students step by step through issue-spotting, IRAC, and exam strategy. Sessions are structured, focused, and always aligned with your course materials and goals.
I especially enjoy working with nontraditional students, first-generation law students, and anyone who feels overwhelmed or unsure about legal studies. You don’t need to “already get it” to work with me—that’s what tutoring is for.
What to Expect in Your First Session
Your first session is low-pressure and fully professional. We’ll start by discussing your course, assignments, and goals, then create a clear plan tailored to your needs. You’ll leave with practical understanding, clear next steps, and confidence that you’re on the right track. My goal is for you to feel supported, prepared, and respected from day one.
If you’re looking for a knowledgeable, approachable, and reliable tutor who takes your education seriously, I’d be happy to work with you.

I know firsthand how overwhelming law can feel—especially when it seems like everyone else understands it and you’re still trying to make sense of the basics. My approach as a tutor is simple: law should make sense, and you should never feel intimidated for asking questions. I work with you where you are, not where you think you’re supposed to be, and I tailor each session to what you actually need—whether that’s preparing for an exam, breaking down a tough case, fixing a draft, or just getting unstuck.
When we work together, I keep things clear, practical, and real. I explain legal concepts in plain language first, then show you how they play out in actual cases and exam scenarios. We walk through issue-spotting and IRAC step by step, and I ask questions that help you learn how to think through problems instead of guessing. If something doesn’t click right away, that’s okay—we slow down, try a different explanation, and keep going until it does.
Our sessions are structured but never rigid. We start by talking about what’s giving you trouble that day, then focus directly on that—using your syllabus, assignments, practice exams, or outlines. We work through examples together, apply the rules in real time, and wrap up with clear next steps so you leave knowing exactly what to do before our next session. The goal is for every lesson to feel useful, not overwhelming.
What really sets me apart is that I’m not just a tutor—I’m an experienced legal educator who understands how professors teach and test, and I genuinely care about your progress. I especially enjoy working with nontraditional students, first-generation law students, and anyone who feels behind or unsure if they belong in law school. You do. And I’ll help you see that.
If you’re an undergraduate in legal studies or criminal justice, or a law student at any level who wants help understanding the material, improving exam performance, or building confidence, I’d love to work with you. My goal is for you to walk away not just with better grades, but with clarity, confidence, and the sense that law is something you can do.
