About Red

Hi, my name is Red, and I’m originally from Hawaii. I’ve been learning Chinese since I was young, and over time it became a big part of my life.

In high school I studied abroad in Beijing. I loved it so much that I went to University in Shanghai. Through living, studying, and working in China, I developed strong fluency and deep cultural understanding.

Because I didn’t grow up speaking Mandarin as my mother tongue, I understand the challenges of learning Chinese as a second language. With dedication and the right support, I became fluent enough to teach dance in Mandarin and work as a professional interpreter for clients in New Zealand. This journey has been incredibly empowering for me.

Now, I’m passionate about helping others experience that same confidence and success. Whether you are completely new to Mandarin or looking to fine-tune your skills, I'd love to support you every step of the way!

About the lesson

Techniques & Methodology:

-Focus on conversational Mandarin from the beginning

-Emphasis on correct tones and pronunciation

-Practice building sentences with new vocabulary

-Listening exercises using real-life examples

-Travel- and daily-life–relevant vocabulary

-Reading and writing introduced gradually as needed

Typical lesson: 45 minutes
