About Layla
I am a senior high school student who excels at language, especially English and I have an 'A' average on all of my essays through high school. I used to volunteer at Franklin D. Roosevelt for Reading Partners, a program where volunteers read to and tutor kids in English. One student I tutored improved greatly under my care with her struggle in pronouncing certain letters. I can help ease children's issues with reading and help retain information when it comes to literature.

My teaching method is read it first, write it second. Reading is the first step to any language and I think students who write what they read embeds vocabulary into their memory for good practice. At the first lesson, I let my student select a book. We will go over the book title, author, story, and important vocabulary the student encounters. We will read together from the title until the end. Flash cards will be a common tool for study work. Even for the youngest students, it is not too early to teach the structure of a good letter/essay.
Something important to note: A shopping mall, a public park, and a diner are not suitable study areas. A library, a quiet cafe, and a house are!
