About Naoise

I am a 22 year old Radiography graduate now living in Glasgow, and although I no longer live in Ireland, I am keen to pass my passion for the Irish language onto students. I understand that covid has been a massive barrier to learning Irish for many students, so I think that by making it easier to learn and speak, students will feel more positively towards the language and be more keen to learn and practice - which is crucial in improving and doing well overall.

I am serious about teaching Irish, so I would like my students to be as eager to learn as I am to teach, whilst being comfortable enough to have fun trí mheán na gaeilge (through the medium of Irish).

About the lesson

With lessons of 30 mins - 2 hours, I can provide help with Oral, Aural, written works, and vocab for Sraith pictúirí and essays. I believe competence does not come from learning off essays and drilling in exercises, but from speaking the language and gaining an understanding of the tenses and proper grammar through practice. Once this is grasped, phrases of gaeilge saibhir (rich irish) and seanfhocail (irish proverbs) can be integrated into written and spoken work to bring the standard up to a H1.

I will use the first free lesson to assess the student’s current ability and areas they may lack confidence or require extra guidance, and deliver a personalised lesson plan for the following weeks. I would aim to conduct a lesson through basic Irish, keeping topics light and conversational, to encourage confidence and participation.

I am happy to provide tuition to both primary and secondary level students, as well as non-students hoping to build on their gaeilge.
