About Trent

Whether you're looking to improve your grade in Spanish class or looking to become fluent in Spanish quickly, I'm the guy for you! The fact that I learned Spanish as a second language makes me the perfect resource for an English speaker learning this beautiful language, because I overcame all the same obstacles that you'll encounter, and I became completely fluent.

I lived in Mexico for two years, currently live with Spanish speakers, speak it every day with native speakers, go to church with native speakers, and I taught Spanish at one of the best private schools in the country. If you're in school at any grade (including University level), I can help you. If you're looking to become fluent for a non-academic reason, I can help you do so far more quickly than you could otherwise.

When I moved to Mexico, I learned to communicate myself well in 6 weeks, and I was fluent in 3 months, in part because of my rigorous method of learning a principle and applying it in as many conversations as I could. This method will work for you too.

In terms of teaching credentials, I have taught many different subjects (Spanish, Music, Theatre) at elementary schools, middle schools, high schools, and universities. I can't wait to start working with you!

About the lesson

For those looking for homework help (Elem.-Univ.):

After assessing your level and your goals, a typical 45-minute lesson plan will look like this:
-5 min. of Homework Review - What is the principle you're learning in class? (e.g. preterite tense, command form, etc)
-10 minutes of teaching the principle - Plus Q&A
-20 minutes of practicing the principle, immersion style. You ask and answer questions in Spanish using the grammatical principle we're discussing, just like you were having a real conversation.
-10 minutes of helping you finish your homework and assigning any of my personal assignments. (including Spanish television shows, Spanish-speaking AI tools, and for college students, Spanish-speaking chat groups like Polyglot Club)

For those looking to become fluent Spanish speakers quickly:

After assessing your level, discussing your goals, and teaching any phrases required for immersion (such as "How do you say _____?" and "What does _____ mean?"), we'll have an immersion-style course where everything is taught in Spanish, everything is learned in Spanish, and all the immersion-style homework is in Spanish. A typical 45-minute lesson plan will look like this:

-5 min. of Greeting and small talk (e.g. "how are you?" for early levels, and "How was your week?" for more advanced levels)
-10 min. of explaining the new grammatical principle we'll be learning in Spanish (with some English words on the virtual board to help)
-20 min. of practicing the new grammatical principle in conversations and Q&A sessions between you and me.
-10 min. assigning immersive homework (television shows, Spanish-speaking AI tools, and Spanish-learner online groups like Polyglot club)
