Oi! I’m Jon — a passionate Portuguese learner turned fluent speaker, tutor, and cultural guide. My journey with Brazilian Portuguese began back in college, when I fell in love with the language — and I haven’t stopped learning since. I know what it’s like to start from scratch, not understanding a single word, and work your way to fluency. That experience fuels my empathy and patience as a teacher. I spent years living in Brazil, where I immersed myself in the culture, music, food, and daily life. I’ve taught English while living there and built deep, lasting relationships — including with a Brazilian partner — so I know how powerful language can be in love, connection, and everyday understanding. I specialize in helping adults — especially those in relationships with native speakers — build the confidence and skills to communicate clearly and authentically. Olá! I’m Jon — a language tutor with over 5 years of experience speaking Portuguese and 2 years teaching English in Brazil. Each lesson is customized based on your personal goals and learning style. Whether you're brand new or intermediate, I create a safe, judgment-free space for growth. My Method: I prioritize practical conversation over textbook drills. I use cultural examples, relationship-based phrases, and real dialogues. We work with repetition, visuals, and storytelling — especially helpful for neurodivergent learners. You’ll get recap notes and vocabulary tools to review between sessions.
