I never thought I could teach Chinese before until one of my volunteer experiences inspired me. I was supposed to teach English in a Laos language school for a while and I found that some of my colleagues and students are studying Chinese in their own time. So when we had spare time, we practised conversation in Chinese, and we all gained a lot. The second interesting experience was a chit-chat between me and my Australian friend. I asked, do you know why Chinese characters look like that? She shook her head. Then I told her about the development of the Oracle bone script. We used to write our language on animal bones or turtle plastrons, in a vivid way, like hieroglyphs.

I will use the textbook for beginners the same as we use for grade 1 Chinese in China. Because it's much more practical than other old version textbooks. Picture books are always the best choice for visual learners and starters. There are pinyin we can practice, short and simple poems and many comprehensive activities we can go through together.
