About Trevor

I am a flute tutor who loves guiding students on their musical journey with creativity and skill. My teaching combines mentorship, accountability, and critical thinking. I focus on tone, phrasing, rhythm, and breath control while encouraging self-expression. I also include music theory, sight-reading, and ear training to strengthen overall musicianship. Creativity is emphasised through improvisation, composition, and musical exploration. I help students set goals, practice consistently, and track their progress. Mistakes are treated as valuable learning opportunities. I adapt lessons to each student’s pace, level, and personal interests. I act as a mentor, offering guidance, motivation, and constructive feedback. Lessons balance technical development with creative exercises to keep students engaged. I emphasise reflection, problem-solving, and independent thinking in all sessions. My goal is to help students build confidence, independence, and a love for music. I also teach related subjects such as performance skills, theory, and rhythm. I create a positive and motivating environment where students feel supported. Every lesson is designed to help students become expressive, confident, and passionate musicians.

About the lesson

My flute teaching philosophy is based on creativity, mentorship, and consistent practice. I believe that every student has the potential to become a confident, expressive musician. Each lesson combines structured technique practice with creative musical exploration. I guide students as a mentor, helping them think critically and express themselves through music. Accountability helps students stay motivated and disciplined in their practice. Lessons include tone, rhythm, phrasing, and breath control exercises. I also teach theory, sight-reading, and listening to build complete musicianship. Creativity is encouraged through improvisation, composing, and expressive interpretation. Mistakes are seen as part of learning and provide opportunities to grow. My teaching is flexible, adapting to each student’s pace, goals, and interests. I emphasise reflection, problem-solving, and self-evaluation. I create a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages curiosity. I also teach related subjects such as theory and performance skills. My goal is to help students develop technical skill, confidence, and a lifelong love for music.
