Immersed in the study of English, Spanish, Latin, math, and chess since 1975, and having taught these subjects for twenty-two years, I have the experience and profound insight that most tutors lack. Due to my highly explicit, pinpoint, step-by-ministep explanations, the sustained intensity of the instruction, and my singular patience and perseverance, my students learn in one two hour lesson what normally takes an entire week to learn in school --often, what takes up to THREE weeks to learn in school-- a fact to which they would be happy to attest. This is a profession that I was born for. I have a gift for teaching that can not be conferred by a college education.
I have been tutoring since 1994. As to how many students I have taught, forget it --I lost track over a decade ago. Those who have studied diligently and persistently have way, way outperformed their peers in the school system.
I studied English intensively in high school and at SUNY Purchase back in 1972. I also studied Latin under the late Daniel E. Woods at Manhattanville College during the 1973-74 school year. Beyond that, I am self-taught, not only in English and Latin, but in Spanish, math, and chess. I have been studying these subjects relentlessly ever since, and have been tutoring them since 1994. I also teach Latin at Fusion Academy in Stamford, Connecticut; and at Cambria School of Excellence in Queens.
