I recently retired from the Smithsonian where I helped raise over $1.8 billion for their most recent Campaign. But in a former life I was a featured soloist in several military bands over the course of my music career. I've taught students ranging in age from 6 to 60.

My Bachelor of Music degree is from Columbus State University where I studied flute performance with Natalie Kruger. Scales! The very best way to learn an instrument and sound like you've learned it is through these magical stacks of notes. And, when you stack them in certain patterns, you build an ear for the right intonation. When you have these and a few other basics under your belt, people will enjoy playing with you because you'll sound like you know what you're doing.
