About Kirsten
I have been tutoring math since I was an undergraduate, and this is what led to my life-long career as a certified math teacher. I gain tremendous satisfaction from seeing a student feel better about their capacity to learn after overcoming a hurdle in their math class. I always aim to cultivate a relationship with students in which we learn together, see mistakes as opportunities for growth, and see math as dynamic and visual. I feel it is an important role for a tutor to inspire student confidence, so I am patient and know the content well enough to allow the student to set the pace.

I have years of experience meeting students exactly where they are. I can quickly assess where the gap is in a student's understanding and address it by connecting it to what they already know. Everything in math is connected, and most things can be explained in a visual way. I frequently support student understanding with diagrams, charts and graphs, and incorporate technological tools for vivid demonstrations.
My areas of strength are in Algebra 2, Precalculus (including Trigonometry) and Calculus 1 and 2 and Geometry. Any student seeking support in these areas should come away from our meetings feeling successful, confident, and one step closer to becoming an independent learner.
