I approach each topic by working with the student's perspective and how they see it, and then going with their train of thought. Even though it may not seem like it, a lot of math concepts can be approached in various ways. For example, a student might be visual, or hands-on, or comfortable using symbols. I try to use the methods that align with the students' way of processing information
I was a high school math teacher for 5 years and a college math instructor for 18 years. I have Master's degrees in Mathematics, as well as in Secondary Education which mean I'm good at math AND I've studied various ways to get it across. I also work with clients to relieve anxiety, including math anxiety as I'm aware that affects performance in the classroom and on tests.
