About Conrad

I have been teaching chess for over 10 years and taught 100s of students. I have represented both Kent and Cambridge University. I was the Kent under-18 Grand Prix Champion and have won numerous adult and junior tournaments. My highest ECF grade was 180 and, as a latecomer to chess, I know what it takes to work and continue to improve after hitting a plateau. I have taught students of all ages, from as young as five to adult players. I have taught at many large coaching events, including with the former British Champion. Additionally, I have taught at numerous chess clubs and schools. I am fully DBS checked.

About the lesson

I have taught students from beginner up to ECF 120 and my peak grade of 180 ensures I have the chess experience and knowledge to achieve rapid improvement. I strike a balance between improvement and passion for chess. I base my teaching on the comprehensive Steps method. This was first developed in the Netherlands and used successfully around the world to train many players who have gone on to compete at the highest level. During the lesson, I also work through the student's games to identify weaknesses. Identifying these weaknesses can drive rapid improvement.

He sees things from his students' perspectives so that he can understand their difficulties and adjust his teaching methods. Most importantly, his students seem to enjoy his lessons very much.
