About Ed
I am a former UK government economist with a 2:1 BSc in Economics from the University of Nottingham and more than six years of professional experience. During my career, I advised government departments on transport, trade, industrial policy and regional development, translating complex economic evidence into clear recommendations for senior decision-makers.
I have managed analytical work, mentored colleagues and helped people develop their confidence, knowledge and professional skills. Outside government, I designed and facilitated an international seminar programme on AI governance, creating the curriculum and supporting participants from a range of professional and academic backgrounds.
I enjoy helping people understand difficult ideas, improve their reasoning and recognise their own progress. My approach is patient, encouraging and intellectually rigorous. Alongside academic Economics, I can offer informed guidance to students considering careers in economics, government or public policy, including support with applications and interview preparation.

Every student learns differently, so I tailor lessons to their level, goals and preferred way of working. We will begin by identifying the topics they understand well and the areas where they need more support.
My lessons focus on genuine understanding rather than simply memorising definitions. I use clear explanations, real-world policy examples, guided questions and exam-style problems to help students apply economic concepts and explain their reasoning confidently. Students receive constructive feedback and practical strategies they can use independently.
Lessons typically last 60 minutes and are available to GCSE, A-level, IB and undergraduate students. I hold a BSc in Economics and have more than six years of experience as a UK government economist. I have also designed and facilitated an international seminar programme, turning complex ideas into accessible and engaging learning materials.
I can also support students and early-career professionals exploring economics, government and public-policy careers, including application advice, interview preparation and explaining the different routes into policy and analytical roles.
