About SP
I am an experienced music and drama educator with over 20 years’ teaching experience. I was formerly Head of Music and Drama, and my professional work includes teaching, examining, accompanying, musical direction and performance coaching.
As an ABRSM examiner, pianist, accompanist and musical director, I understand both the technical and musical demands students face. I also know how important it is for learners to feel calm, supported and properly prepared, especially when working towards exams or performances.
My approach is professional, friendly and reliable. I aim to give students confidence, clarity and a strong sense of progress, while adapting carefully to each learner’s individual needs, personality and musical ambitions.

My lessons are practical, structured and encouraging. I start by finding out what each student wants to achieve, then build lessons around clear explanations, guided practice and manageable next steps.
For piano students, lessons may include technique, note-reading, rhythm, musical expression, practice strategies and preparation for graded exams where appropriate. For music theory students, I break topics down carefully so that notation, rhythm, keys, scales, intervals, chords and exam questions become much easier to understand.
Lessons are usually 30, 45 or 60 minutes, depending on the student’s age, level and goals. I teach children, young people and adult learners, including beginners, returning musicians, exam candidates and GCSE or A Level Music students who need focused support.
