About Kim

Hi, I'm Kim! I’m a passionate and experienced math educator with over 25 years of teaching and tutoring experience. I was a certified classroom teacher for 13 years, teaching middle school math for 2 years and high school math for 11 years.

Alongside my classroom experience, I’ve been tutoring students one-on-one for over 25 years and absolutely love this style of teaching. Tutoring allows me to meet students exactly where they are, break concepts down in a way that makes sense to them, and build confidence with skills and test taking along the way.

I believe one-to-one tutoring should be a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My goal is not just to help students improve their math skills, but to help them feel more confident, capable, and less stressed about math.

I’m truly excited to support students and help them succeed.

About the lesson

My teaching style is patient, clear, and supportive. I focus on helping students understand the why behind the math, not just memorize steps. I create a non-judgmental space where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.

I tutor virtually unless you live near Saint Augustine, Florida. I tutor in my office in a public medical plaza.

Lessons are tailored to each student. We begin by reviewing homework or past material to identify gaps, then work through concepts together using guided practice. I provide extra practice problems if necessary and we can go ahead to new material if time permits to get you ready for the lesson before you have it in class.

With over 25 years of teaching and tutoring experience, including time as a classroom teacher and math department head, I know where students commonly struggle and how to support them. I also understand the struggle when you feel like you are in the dark with math. My goal is for you to feel comfortable and confident with the material.

I work with middle and high school students in Pre-Algebra, Algebra, and Geometry. I also help students in the summer prepare for the next math class, students in virtual school and preparing for the SAT and ACT.

That price includes 1 "lifeline" a week where students can reach out and ask a question on homework or studying in addition to the 55 minute tutoring session.

If you live near St. Augustine, FL you are also able to have tutoring in person at my office.
