About Phuong
My two decades of educational experience encompasses roles as a Teacher (grades 1, 4, 5 and 6), Math Interventionist (grades 4-6), Counselor (grades 6-12) and Assistant Principal (grades 6-12) in diverse, public schools. As you can see, I have experience in K-12 settings and have a deep understanding of children's social, emotional, and academic development/ needs.
I attended the University of Washington (Go Dawgs!) and earned a B.A. double majoring in Psychology and Sociology. I also hold a National Board Certification (ELA K-8), two Master’s degrees (M.I.T. and M.Ed with School Counseling endorsement) and an administrative certification through UW College of Education’s Danforth Educational Leadership Program. I plan on applying for my Doctorate's within the next two years.

My approach is unique where I combine all my previous experiences and teaching tools in one. I like to get to know you/ your child as a person where our sessions will definitely be lively, interactive, and fun! I will also differentiate and adapt to specific learning styles and needs. I will ensure the lessons are meaningful and intentional and will put thoughtful planning to ensure effective, data- driven results.
Some successful results thus far include interview coaching and resume building where candidates have been hired as Counselors, Teachers, and Paraeducators (in Renton, Seattle, and Highline Public Schools), students going up 1-2 reading grade levels within a year, and building Teachers' capacities by improving scores based on the Danielson's Frameworks rubric. It's so rewarding to see these accomplishments! :)
