About Jacqueline

I’m a published author, educator, and former college instructor with a Ph.D. and over a decade of experience helping students strengthen their reading and writing skills. I’ve taught high school and college courses, advised graduate applicants, and worked with learners from preschool to adulthood as a literacy instructor for the Institute of Reading Development. I’ve also published three books and numerous essays on media, education, and storytelling—so I understand both the creative and academic sides of writing. But more than anything, I approach tutoring with openness, curiosity, and respect. I believe you’re the expert of your own experiences, and I’m here to support you in finding your voice, sharpening your thinking, and growing your confidence. Whether you're working on a class assignment, a personal statement, or just want to feel more at ease with reading and writing, I tailor our sessions to your goals and needs. I love reading and maintain a daily practice—novels, essays, the news, and everything in between. I bring that same love of language and lifelong learning into every session, creating a space where it’s okay to ask questions, take risks, and grow.

Hi, I’m Jacqueline, and I help students find their voice, sharpen their reading, and write with purpose. Whether you're working on a college essay, tackling a tough class, or getting back into school after time away, I meet you where you are—no jargon, no judgment.

What can you expect?
Each session is tailored to you. We'll start by identifying your goals (ace that assignment? feel more confident reading academic texts? finally understand semicolons?). Then we’ll break them into practical steps—working through examples, brainstorming together, practicing techniques, and reviewing your own writing.

I focus on helping you build lasting skills, not just one-time fixes. You'll leave each session with tools you can use—whether it’s how to structure an argument, read critically, or revise with clarity.

What makes me different?
I’ve taught high school and college students, advised college and grad school applicants, and mentored adult learners returning to the classroom. I believe in learning by doing, asking questions, and building confidence. I also love media and storytelling, so I bring in examples that feel real and relevant, not just textbook-perfect.
